Dragon Ball Super: It Gets Better & Better
Alright, let’s talk about Dragon Ball Super. You already know this series has been a wild ride—and as someone who’s been deep in the Dragon Ball universe for years—watching, gaming, arguing with friends over power levels—I’ve got a lot to say.
When Super Was Announced, We Lost Our Minds
I remember when they announced Dragon Ball Super, and man, it felt like the biggest comeback in anime history. Goku, Vegeta, and the whole squad were back, and it kicked off with the Battle of Gods and Resurrection F arcs. Solid start, right?
But here’s the thing— sitting through those arcs again felt like watching a YouTube video at half speed. That animation was bad. Goku vs. Beerus looked like it was drawn by some kid who just learned how to color.
Thankfully, the show got better. But it took a minute.
Can We Talk About How Transformations Became a Joke?
One of my biggest issues with Dragon Ball Super? Transformations stopped feeling special. Back in Z, when Goku first went Super Saiyan, it was CRAZY. Gohan going Super Saiyan 2? Emotional. Even Super Saiyan 3 had us hyped beyond belief.
But Super? Man, they handed out transformations like it was nothing. Super Saiyan God? Cool idea, but it disappeared faster than Yamcha in a serious fight. Then we got Super Saiyan Blue, then Ultra Instinct, then Ultra Ego, then Beast Gohan, then Orange Piccolo… bro. Can we slow down for a second?
And don’t even get me started on how Kale and Caulifla unlocked Super Saiyan. If that’s all it took, Goku and Vegeta could’ve skipped the years of training.
The Goku Black Arc: Finally, Something Worth Watching
If there’s one arc I’ll defend, it’s the Goku Black saga. This arc had everything—time travel, an evil Goku, and some of the best fights in the series. Vegeta giving Goku Black that royal beatdown was everything we wanted to see from Vegeta.
But that ending was terrible. The Zeno erasing everything felt like the writers hitting the reset button, but it was still one of the best arcs we got.
The Tournament of Power: Super at Its Peak
Then we hit the Tournament of Power, and Super finally delivered everything we wanted—insane fights, high stakes, and Goku pulling out Ultra Instinct and breaking the internet.
And let’s talk about Android 17 for a second. This guy went from DBZ side character to MVP of the entire tournament. I did NOT see that coming!
This was Super at its best. The choreography, the tension, the fact that entire universes were on the line—it was peak hype. Even Vegeta got his moment to shine. I mean, yeah, we got way too many transformations again, but at least Ultra Instinct was cool.
The Broly Movie: Absolute Perfection
Then came Dragon Ball Super: Broly, and let me tell you—this movie was everything. The fights? Insane. The animation? AWESOME. Broly finally getting a proper backstory instead of just screaming “KAKAROT” like a broken record? Finally!
And the way they brought Gogeta into the main canon was FIRE. This is how you do a Dragon Ball movie.

Where does Dragon Ball Super stand? It’s had its ups and downs, but it was a heck of a ride. Whether you loved it or hated it, there’s no denying it left an impact.
